More Information The M-1 aluminium plate is an alloy that was first brought to the market in 1988. It has great dimensional stability and is high density. Its high strength is one of the reasons it is widely used. Heat treatment can’t be used to increase this alloy’s hardness. The creation of this metal was to meet the growing needs within the high-temperature plastic and mold industries. Because of this, M-1 aluminium has the best properties in elevated temperature than other aluminium alloys. This product is a cast that has uniform equiaxed grain structure, which makes it have uniform properties in all directions. This is commonly purchased over wrought aluminium and tool steel because it is more cost-effective. Real-time production through machining is lowered when M-1 alloys are used. The density of M-1 alloys is great. It has a very tight grain structure that is equiaxed and metallurgically sound throughout. In order to achieve this, modern technologies are used for processes like cooling, casting and homogenization. The dimensional stability of this alloy is different than wrought alloys because it even without stress relieving, itmaintains its dimensional stability while being machined. The end product is a product with a very low residual stress and grain structure that is uniform in all directions. The brinell hardness of this product is highly consistent throughout the plate no matter what its thickness is. The machinability of this alloy is three times better than steel, giving it a high rating amongst aluminium alloys. The surface finish it is able to achieve is excellent. When needed, hardcoat anodizing or nickel coating can be used. The M-1 aluminium plate is available in sizes between 1 and 30 inches thick, 48.5 and 74 inches wide and up to 195 inches long.
